Lemon Water Mornings

Warm lemon water mornings... I'm sure you've heard this and felt like you were cheating on your morning cup of joe. So you drink coffee first thing? WHO DOESN'T?!? Ladies, I'm not here to tell you that you have to give up coffee. God no! Just drink it second.

Here are all the insanely awesome benefits of making the first drink your WLW (warm lemon water), and then follow it with whatever your heart desires.

1. Digestion helper

So here's the thing: WARM water even without the lemon has insane benefits! Drinking any water, or especially warm water, first thing in the morning can help flush the digestive system and rehydrate the body.

It makes sense- because most people don't wake up throughout the night to drink water (unless you've had a vodka kind of night). Typically, we haven’t been drinking for at least 8 hours. That makes water a pretty big deal when you first wake up.

2. Flush-y

Speaking of vodka nights, your liver is BUZZING with activity while you sleep. Whether you drink alcohol once a week, 7 times a week, or not at all- your liver is working in the night. Drinking enough water, especially in the morning, helps make sure that your body can perform these jobs well. Lemon juice, even though it's considered "acidic", actually helps your stomach acids with their daily tasks too.

3. Immune booster

It's not rocket science- lemons contain Vitamin C! Not a crazy ton, but about 50 mg per lemon. But did you know that they also contain some potassium? (Bananas, we still love you) When you drink lemon water first thing, your body has the best chance at absorbing those vitamins and boosting your immune system... AKA, flu season has a new enemy.

4. Happy skin

When the body gets a nice flush and digestion improves, your skin also gets those benefits. It is our biggest organ- and it needs that Vitamin C to produce collagen for a baby soft look.

5. Faster metabolism {flatter tummy}

Check out this research from Germany:

After drinking approximately 17 ounces of water, the subjects’ metabolic rates — or the rate at which calories are burned — increased by 30% for both men and women. The increases occurred within 10 minutes of water consumption and reached a maximum after about 30 to 40 minutes.

Of course, drinking water (or lemon water) by itself isn’t going to be a miracle weight loss solution, but we like all the help we can get.

So drink up, ladies... And tell me how it goes for you!
